Fishing Tips
- If you are fishing in a river with a strong current using a single hook, bend the hook to the left about 10 to 15 degrees if the river's current is oriented towards the left, or 10-15 degrees to the right if the river is traveling from right to left.
- Scraps and fish used for bait need to be kept in the refrigerator while you are not using them.
- Use keeper hooks on your rigs, that prevent the bait from falling off and catch fish more easily.
- To better attract fish to your bait, attach flashy things to your rig.
- When organizing a fishing trip, take various baits with you. The best to use are pilchards, bonito, trevally and mackerel.
- If you want to get to the right channel, where all the big fish are, increase your distance with your cast.
- Autumn is perhaps the best season to go fishing. The weather is cooler, the fish are more closer and more hungry. The best bait is fresh bait; if it's frozen or dried the fish won't touch it.
- Day fishing is recommended for colored water, when the day is cloudy. Night fishing can produce predator fish, which come out to feed at night.
- If the fish is big, don't pull it out of the water only with the line. Wait for it to come to the surface of the water, then use your net.
- When ice fishing, use a hand auger to break the ice, not an automated one that will spook the fish.
